RITCH VIOLA, founder of Every Man Jack, is also one of the unsung heroes of method. A key figure in method's Target strategy, Ritch used this experience to get his own vision, a unique line of men's grooming products, on to Target's shelves in record time with astonishingly limited resources. Working with the great team he assembled (Industrial Designers Y Studios and Copywriter Jamie McGinley) we moved from initial concept (11/2006) to a complete line on shelf (4/2007) in under 5 months.
In many ways, EMJ and MUDHAUS are connected at the hip, fluidly moving from concept to execution with very little conversation or review. More like gestures, connections, volleys. Ritch shares a thought or concern and I turn it into a rendering. The next thing you know, it's sitting on the shelf in Target. Obviously it's not really that simple, but like professional athletes or musicians, the key is to make it look effortless.
